Sounds of February
there are no love songs on this playlist

Well, here we are. Valentine’s Day is almost upon us, but that doesn’t mean that everything has to experienced through rose colored glasses. I compiled a fabulous playlist for this month, and I have been obsessed with it and we are only six days into the month!
This month I was feeling a lot of indie vibes with some R&B scatterings. I’ve been really interested in broadening my musical horizons. Usually I enjoy discovering new artists but I’ve been stuck in a rut for a while. I think I was able to break out of that with this playlist.

This month starts with some FKA Twigs who is an R&B goddess. I love the sultry sound she brings and it it meshes perfectly with artists like Sir Sly, Sky Ferreira, and Jhene Aiko. I had to bring some Bastille to the table but this time they collaborated with Naughty Boy (who I’ve been kind of obsessed with) and this song is super intense and addicting. On top of the usual suspects like Walk the Moon, Arctic Monkeys, and The Neighbourhood (feat. French Montana), I mixed in some new Marina and The Diamonds, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, and Rihanna.

Some of the sounds of the month newcomers include Bad Suns, The Preatures, and Coin. I saw Coin open for Grizfolk last week and decided to check them out. The Preatures is a band I discovered through endless digging through Spotify and I really enjoy their sound.

Lastly, I had to include a track from Ella Henderson’s new debut album because she is phenomenal. Her voice gives me the chills.

Give this month a listen!
